By seamlessly linking mobile payment solutions to the taxi system, SIX and Austrosoft offer taxi drivers and passengers real added value: the automatic transfer of the fare and all surcharges to the terminal transforms the payment process into a swift, smooth and secure transaction.
When developing new products and services, SIX Payment Services focuses on two factors: the widest range of potential applications and the complete fulfilment of customer requirements – as specific as these may be. Together with proven partner companies we continuously develop our range to generate real added value for our customers. One example of this strategy is the new taxi total package, which SIX Payment Services developed jointly with an Austrian software partner: thanks to the integration of a terminal solution via a flexible programming interface (Application Programming Interface; API) both passenger management and all payment processes can be handled directly from one single application. With this total package, the taxi driver obtains a combined solution from a single source. The e355 PINPAD mobile terminal is linked directly to the existing taxi application – with meter, customer scheduling and GPS navigation – via the TIM interface. At the end of the journey the fare is transferred directly to the terminal, and the passenger can pay by card in just a few seconds.
Seamless integration of mobile payment solutions
Our partner Austrosoft has been developing technical solutions for taxi drivers across Europe for years; the software from the Austrian company is also used by several taxi firms in Switzerland. However, any connection of terminals was previously impossible or significantly limited. With the direct integration of the e355 PINPAD mobile terminal, SIX Payment Services now offers an uncompromising, compatible solution: thanks to the use of the Swiss transmission log ep2, in future your passengers can settle their taxi journey using the PostFinance Card or a pre-paid gift card.
From project to universal solution
Austrosoft and SIX Payment Services developed the new solution primarily for the Zurich taxi firm 444, which uses around 300 e355 PINPAD mobile terminals across its vehicle fleet. The positive feedback from Taxi 444 drivers and passengers, however, encouraged SIX Payment Services and Austrosoft to offer the application to other taxi drivers and firms: the new solution is particularly interesting for around 1000 other Swiss taxis that already use the Austrosoft system, however most of which are not yet equipped with mobile payment terminals. SIX Payment Services will specifically target the corresponding taxi owners and drivers and try to convince them of the benefits of a fully integrated, mobile payment solution. The advantages are clear: the automated system transforms the payment process into a swift, smooth and all-round secure transaction for drivers and passengers alike. In a second phase, SIX and Austrosoft will also offer the new application to international taxi drivers and taxi firms.
